Create the Primary Menu

Being an FSE theme, eStory allows you to customize the primary menu from the site editor. You can either create a new menu or edit the existing one from the site editor.

In the guideline, we will be discussing both the ways of customizing the primary menu i.e creating a custom menu and editing the existing menu.

1. Create a Custom Menu #

In order to create a custom menu of the eStory theme, follow the steps below:

  1. From your WordPress Dashboard click on Appearance > Editor
  2. Click on the List View option from the top of the page editor
  3. Under it select the Navigation block
  4. Click on the Plus sign that appears on the right side of the header
  5. Click on the Select Menu > Create a New Menu
  6. Chose Start Empty

Once you have finished the steps above, click on the Plus sign and start adding the menu with its respective custom links. Likewise, click on the Plus sign again which will give you a placeholder to add your next menu items.

Create a Sub-Menu #

In order to create a custom sub-menu of the eStory theme, you will need the follow the steps below:

  • From your WordPress Dashboard click on Appearance > Editor
  • Click on the List View option from the top of the page editor
  • Under it select the Navigation block
  • Choose the menu where you want to add the submenu. It will display the editor tool below the menu items.
  • Click on the Submenu tool

Once you have done, a box will appear below the menu item with the Plus sign on the top of the box. Clicking on the Plus sign will allow you to add the submenu along with its custom link. Once done click on save and check on the frontend.

By following the steps above you can create your own custom menu on the eStory theme.

2. Customize Predefined Menu #

Well, if you already have the predefined menu or the menu that comes after importing the demo of the eStory theme, you will need to customize it to replace yours. Follow the steps below to customize the predefined menus:

  • From your WordPress Dashboard click on Appearance > Editor
  • Select the menu area
  • Click on the List View option from the top of the page editor
  • Under the Navigation blocks, you will get to see the lists of menu items.
  • Click on the menu items you want to make the changes which allow you to change the menu item name and custom links
  • Once done, click on Save.

Customize Predefined Sub-Menu #

In order to customize the predefined sub-menu, follow the steps below:

  • From your WordPress Dashboard click on Appearance > Editor
  • Select the menu area
  • Click on the List View option from the top of the page editor
  • Under the Navigation blocks, you will get to see the lists of menu items.
  • The menu items having the sub-menu have the arrow on the left side.
  • Click on the arrow which will display the sub-menu of the menu items.
  • Click on the sub-menu items you want to make the changes which allow you to change the sub-menu item name and custom links
  • Once done, click on Save.

By following the steps above you can customize the predefined menu and sub-menu on the eStory theme.
