How to Create a Separate Blog Page
WordPress, by default, displays your blog post on the homepage. However, you can create a separate dedicated blog page on your site if you want your homepage to focus on something else.
For example, if your site focuses on an online store, you want your homepage to reflect the products and other shopping aspects.
Steps for Creating Separate Blog Page
Step 1: Create a Home page and Blog Page
The first step is to create two pages, i.e., a Home page and a Blog page. To create the pages, please follow the steps below:
- Navigate to the WordPress Dashboard.
- Click on Pages > Add New.
- Now Add a Page Title. You can name the page title anything you want. For example, Blog Page as Blog.
- Click on the Publish button to publish the page.
For now, it is not necessary to add any content to those pages. So we have published it without adding any content to the pages.
Repeat the above steps for creating a Home Page or follow the guideline How to Create a Static Front Page?
Step 2: Static Page Setup
After publishing those pages, you will need to set up the pages you want to display as the home page and blog page. Please follow the steps below for setting up the pages:
- Navigate to the WordPress Dashboard.
- Click on Settings > Reading, then ‘Your homepage displays’.
- Choose the ‘A static page‘ option.
- Next to the Homepage, select the home page created earlier using the options from the drop-down boxes.
- Next to the Posts page, select the blog page created earlier using the options from the drop-down boxes.
- Once done, click on the “Save Changes” button at the bottom.
Step 3: Add Blog page to Menu
Now you have successfully set a custom page as a Blog page. To find your newly created Blog page and its content by the visitors, you will need to add the Blog page to the Menu.
Setting up the menu in all WordPress sites has similar steps to follow. Please follow the guideline Adding items to the Menu.
Upon finishing the steps above, navigate to your site, and you will see the newly created blog page on the menu. Click on the menu to get the latest posts on your site.
